Eurocom to Release Quad-Core Notebook

Eurocom Phantom D900C (Current)Canadian PC maker Eurocom is preparing the quad-core version of its 17-inch Phantom D900C gaming/workstation notebook, the Company’s representative told Laptoping.com.

The Phantom D900C will feature the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 “Kentsfield” with four CPU cores, which is commonly used in high-end desktop computers. The Q6600 processor has 2.4GHz clock speed, 1066MHz front side bus and a total of 8MB L2 cache.

Other upcoming major upgrades in Eurocom Phantom D900C will be the nVidia’s new graphics solutions and HD-DVD optical drive. This laptop will be configurable with GeForce Go 8700 and Quadro FX3500 dedicated video cards, in single and dual (SLI) configurations. It currently features nVidia GeForce 7950GTX, empowering 17′’ widescreen 1920×1200 display.

The Phantom D900C is built upon Intel’s G965 chipset, also designed for desktop PCs. The notebook comes with up to three 2.5-inch hard drives with RAID 0/1/5 capability and a maximum of 4GB system memory. It has the UPS (uninterruptible power supply) battery and weighs approximately 11.9lbs.

Currently, there is no information on availability and pricing of quad-core- and GeForce 8700-powered Phantoms. The HD-DVD option is available starting as of today.
