Details of Dell Inspiron 1720, 1721 Revealed

Dell Inspiron 1720, 1721Les Delliens Forum users have revealed the details of the upcoming 17-inch Dell Inspiron 1720 and Inspiron 1721 laptops, based on Intel’s and AMD’s chipsets and processors respectively.

Dell Inspiron 1720 is built on Intel ?“Santa Rosa?” notebook platform and will be offered with Core 2 Duo T5250, T5450, T7100, T7300, and T7500 CPUs. These processors have clock speeds ranging from 1.5GHz to 2.2GHz and 800MHz FSB. The 1720 model with GM965 chipset features integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100, while the same notebook based on Intel PM965 chipset provides a choice of dedicated NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS 128MB or NVIDIA GeForce 8600M WP 256MB video card.

The Inspiron 1721 is based on AMD ATI M690T chipset, Turion 64 X2 dual core processors with speeds from 1.8GHz to 2.2GHz or dual core AMD Athlon 64 X2 CPU at 1.7GHz, and ATI Mobility Radeon X1270 integrated graphics.

Les Delliens forum members say the 17-inch widescreen display found in 1720 and 1721 notebooks provides 1280?—800 or optional 1440?—900 screen resolution. These notebooks support up to two SATA hard drives simultaneously and will initially come with up to 4GB of system memory, while the 8GB memory and hybrid hard drive options will be available later. Additionally, the Inspiron 1721 supports RAID 0 and RAID 1. There is no information on what types of optical drives will be available with the Dell’s new 17″ consumer laptops.
Dell Inspiron 1720 and 1721 provide wireless LAN, including the option for the latest 802.11n draft Wi-Fi standard, as well as built in Gigabit Ethernet, a 56k modem, Bluetooth, and an optional wireless broadband connection.

Each of these laptops has five USB ports, Firewire, Infrared, S-Video out, VGA out, an optional web camera, and, most likely, the ExpressCard slot.

The notebooks weigh approximately eight pounds with 6-cell batteries and feature refreshed chassis design, as well as numeric keypads.

Currently, there is no information on operating system, pricing, and availability of the 1720/1721. According to earlier reports, they are expected to arrive during June and July.

Dell Inspiron 1420 Details Leaked

Dell Inspiron 1420Along with details and images of recently leaked Dell Inspiron 1520, 1521, 1720, and 1721 laptops, French website Les Delliens has published the specifications of the new 14.1-inch Dell Inspiron 1420.

As same as 15.4-inch 1520 and 17-inch 1720 Inspiron notebooks, the 1420 is built on Intel ?“Santa Rosa?” notebook platform supporting the new Core 2 Duo processors with 800MHz front side bus and clock speeds ranging from 1.5GHz to 2.2GHz. Along with T7100, T7300, and T7500 Core 2 Duo CPUs there are two new budget models: the T5450, and the T5250. Dell Inspiron 1420 will be also configurable with the ?“Santa Rosa?” compatible Celeron M processor.

The 1420 notebook models have Intel GM965 chipset with integrated GMA X3100 graphics or PM965 chipset paired with NVIDIA GeForce Go 8400M GS 128 MB dedicated video card. These graphics solutions empower laptop’s 14.1-inch widescreen display with 1280×800 or 1440×900 screen resolution, depending on configuration. The first Dell Inspiron 1420 laptops will have up to 4GB of main memory and SATA hard drive, while the 8GB memory and hybrid hard drive options will come later. It was not published which types of optical drives will be used in the 1420.

This laptop provides a wireless LAN connection with an optional support for 802.11n draft Wi-Fi standard, Gigabit Ethernet, a 56K modem and optional Bluetooth. There will be also wireless broadband options for various provider networks.

The 1420 has an optional built in web camera, four USB ports, ExpressCard slot and Firewire, as well as VGA and S-Video outputs.

Dell Inspiron 1420 has a new chassis design, when compared to previous 1405 model. It weighs 5.5 lbs with 6-cell battery.

Currently there is no information on its pricing, availability, and operating system options. The earlier reports say the “Santa Rosa”-based Inspiron lineup will be launched during June and July.

Dell Inspiron 1520 / 1521Les Delliens has published the detailed specifications of the upcoming 15.4-inch Intel-based Dell Inspiron 1520 and AMD-powered Inspiron 1521 laptops.

Dell Inspiron 1520 is built on Intel ?“Santa Rosa?” notebook platform and will be offered with Core 2 Duo T5250, T5450, T7100, T7300, and T7500 processors. These CPUs have clock speeds ranging from 1.5GHz to 2.2GHz and 800MHz front side bus. The 1520 models with GM965 chipset feature integrated X3100 graphics, while those based on PM965 chipset come with dedicated NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS 128MB or NVIDIA GeForce 8600M WP 256MB card.

The Inspiron 1521 is based on AMD ATI M690T chipset paired with one of the dual core AMD Turion 64 X2 processors, providing speeds from 1.8GHz to 2.2GHz. There will be also an option of dual core AMD Athlon 64 X2 CPU at 1.7GHz. The Dell 1521 has the integrated ATI Mobility Radeon X1270 video solution.

According to Les Delliens, 1520 and 1521 notebooks have 15.4-inch widescreen displays and enable choice of 1280?—800 or 1440?—900 screen resolutions. These laptops support SATA hard drives and will initially come with up to 4GB of system memory, while the 8GB memory and hybrid hard drive options will be available later. The notebooks will ship with DVD burners. Additionally, Dell Inspiron 1520 models with dedicated graphics card will have a Blu-Ray optical drive option.

Regarding networking and communications, the new Inspirons provide wireless LAN, including the latest 802.11n draft standard, as well as Gigabit Ethernet, a 56k modem, Bluetooth, and an optional wireless broadband connection.

Each 1520/1521 notebook has four USB ports, ExpressCard slot, Firewire, Infrared, S-Video out, VGA out, and an optional web camera.

With 6-cell batteries, these notebooks weigh approximately 6.6lbs and feature refreshed chassis design.

NVIDIA GeForce 8700M GT GPU Announced

NVIDIANVIDIA Corporation today announced the notebook-use GeForce 8700M GT graphics processing unit (GPU), designed for gaming and high-definition multimedia content playback.

As well as the entire GeForce 8M Series laptop GPU lineup, the high-end GeForce 8700M GT supports DirectX 10 games, so the video card is compatible with the recently released DX10 version of Company of Heroes, and with upcoming highly anticipated Crysis from Crytek and Lost Planet from Capcom.

NVIDIA GeForce 8700M GT also privdes “stellar HD DVD and Blu-ray video playback”. The new video-processing engine in this GPU performs 100% of the H.264 HD video decoding, freeing the CPU for other tasks and significantly reducing power consumption, heat and noise, according to graphics chip maker. For further power saving, there is NVIDIA PowerMizer technology that balances notebook’s battery life and performance.

The GeForce 8700M GT GPU is expected to be used in laptops from Toshiba, Sager, Prostar, Eurocom, Biohazard, Connoiseur, Cybersystem, Hypersonic, MALIBAL, Multirama, rock, Evesham, Falcon Northwest, Plaisio, XS2, Nexoc, Hyrican, Vigor Gaming, Voodoo PC, and many others.
