Yoggie Security Systems today announced Yoggie Pico, a miniature computer contained in a USB stick, aimed to provide Internet security protection for notebook and desktop PC users.
“For the first time users can access 13 security applications on a miniature computer contained in a USB stick. Uniquely, the Yoggie Pico, a full and robust Linux based computer, offloads all security applications onto the USB stick allowing Internet traffic to be screened before it executes on the laptop or PC and only once it has been cleansed is it allowed to enter the computer,” the press release says.
Yoggie Pico protects computers by using the software combined with a piece of dedicated hardware, so it is not exposed to PC-related vulnerabilities as its software-only counterparts are.
The security applications contained on the Yoggie Pico are anti virus, anti spam, anti phishing, anti spyware, Intrusion Detection (IDS), Intrusion Prevention (IPS), web and mail proxies, firewall, web filtering, parental content control, Adaptive Security Policy, Multi-Layer Security Agent, and Layer-8 Security Engine, as well as VPN Client and VPN, which are available in Yoggie Pico PRO model only.
Yoggie Pico also increases laptop/desktop performance by offloading 13 security applications onto one piece of dedicated hardware.
The Yoggie Pico Personal is priced at ??95/$179 with licensing from year two at ??16/$30. The Pico Pro model costs ??106/$199, with licensing from year 2 at ??21/$40.
It will be available in the United States and Europe from September 2007.
The Company last year announced Yoggie Gatekeeper, a credit-card sized security computer.

Toshiba Corporation announced today it will put AMD processors in about 20 percent of the notebooks it sells in the United States and Europe. The laptop PC maker plans to use AMD chips in moderate-priced standard models for individual and corporate clients, Reuters reports.
The first AMD-powered notebooks from Toshiba will be released this summer reportedly.
The Nikkei business daily reported earlier that prices of AMD-equipped PCs are expected to sell for up to $82 less than comparable models.
Currently, all of the Company’s notebooks available in the market are based on Intel’s processors.
