Acer Aspire 5720 Details Published

Acer Aspire 5720Acer Inc’s website has published the details of the Aspire 5720 15.4-inch multimedia laptop, featuring the latest Intel “Santa Rosa” notebook platform and the new “Gemstone” design.

Acer Aspire 5720 is powered by Intel Core 2 Duo processor with clock speeds in range from 1.8GHz to 2.4GHz and 800MHz front side bus. Acer’s new consumer notebook comes in two versions: the first feature Intel GM965 chipset and integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100, while the second has PM965 chipset paired with the recently announced ATI Mobility Radeon HD X2300 or DirectX 10-ready HD X2400 XT video card. As same as the similar 5920 with nVidia’s graphics, the Aspire 5720 has 15.4-inch high-brightness (220-nits) CrystalBrite TFT LCD with 1280×800 resolution and 8ms response time. The notebook’s sound is powered by Dolby-certified surround system and two built-in Acer 3DSonic stereo speakers.

The 5720 supports up to 4GB of main memory, when used with 64-bit operating system, since the 32-bit OS supports only up to 3GB. This laptop comes with SATA hard drive and DVD burner, but there is also an optional HD DVD optical drive.

Regarding communications, Acer Aspire 5720 provides 802.11a/b/g wireless, Gigabit Ethernet, a 56k modem and an optional Bluetooth. For audio/video conferencing there is Voice and Video over Internet Protocol (VVoIP) support via Acer CrystalEye web camera and an optional Acer Xpress VoIP phone.

The Aspire 5720 has three USB ports, ExpressCard/54 slot, a 5-in-1 card reader, and Firewire port. For external monitor and TV, there are a DVI-D port with HDCP support on models with dedicated graphics, a VGA out and an S-Video out.

Acer Aspire 5720 weigh starting at 6.17lbs with 6-cell battery and comes with Windows Vista Home Premium or Home Basic.

Currently there is no information on pricing and availability date.

Sony VAIO TZ Ultra-Portable Coming Soon

Sony VAIO TZSony VAIO TZ, the new 11.1-inch thin and light notebook, will start shipping in Japan on May 26th, the reports say.

The VAIO TZ ultra-portable weighing 2.62lbs is based on one of the Intel’s 945 chipsets with integrated GMA 950 graphics, which manages 11.1-inch widescreen LCD with LED backlight and 1366×768 resolution. It has Intel Core 2 Duo ultra low voltage processor and supports up to 2GB of DDR2 memory. According to reports, the system can apparently be configured to run both a 2.5-inch 160GB disk and a 1.8-inch 32GB SSD simultaneously. Sony VAIO TZ also has a built-in DVD burner.

Sony VAIO TZThe VAIO TZ features 802.11a/b/g wireless, Gigabit Ethernet, a modem, and Bluetooth, as well as two USB ports, ExpressCard 34mm slot, a memory stick reader, Firewire, a VGA out, Secure Digital slot, and a fingerprint reader. For audio/video chat and conferencing there are built in “Motion Eye” 0.3 mega pixel camera and a microphone.

Currently, there is no information on Sony VAIO TZ’s pricing and its availability in the United States, but it is expected to be available soon after its release in Japan.

HP Compaq 6910p Centrino Pro Notebook Released

HP Compaq 6910pHP Compaq 6910p, the 14.1-inch widescreen notebook featuring Intel “Santa Rosa” platform with Centrino Pro technology, is available for purchase at Hewlett-Packard’s website.

The Compaq 6910p comes with the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processor with up to 2.4GHz clock speed. It ships with 1GB or 2GB of system memory, which is expandable to 4GB, and with up to 160GB hard drive. An integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 or a dedicated ATI Mobility Radeon X2300 manages the notebook’s 14.1-inch widescreen 1280×800 or 1440×900 display. An ultra-slim MultiBay II drive allows users to swap optical drives, such as offered DVD burner, DVD-ROM or combo drive, with secondary hard drives or switch the drive with a weight saver.

HP Compaq 6910p has a variety of connectivity features: 802.11a/b/g/draft-n wireless, an optional HP ev2200 1xEV-DO Broadband Wireless Module (requires Verizon Wireless Service), an optional HP hs2300 HSDPA Broadband Wireless Module (requires mobile network operator service), an optional Bluetooth, a Gigabit Ethernet, and a 56k modem.

Regarding ports and slots, there are three USB ports, PC Card slot, Secure Digital slot, VGA and S-Video outputs, Firewire, a docking connector, and a secondary battery connector.

The Compaq 6910p incorporates TPM Embedded Security Chip 1.2, and a fingerprint reader, while the Intel Centrino Pro technology enables advanced remote manageability.

This notebook weighs starting at 4.4lbs and comes with Windows Vista Business, Vista Home Basic, Windows XP Professional or FreeDOS.

The basic HP Compaq 6910p configuration is priced at $1,349.

HP Compaq 6510b has a 14.1-inch widescreen display with 1280×800 resolution, while HP Compaq 6710b features the 15.4-inch 1280×800 or 1680×1050 widescreen TFT. The 6510b and 6710b have the same specifications, except their screen size and weight of 5.38lbs and 5.7lbs, respectively. Both notebooks are built upon Intel GM965 chipset with an integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 and are offered with up to 2GB of main memory, which is expandable to 4GB. HP Compaq 6510b and 6710b ship with SATA hard drives, providing up to 160GB of storage capacity, and enable a choice of combo drive, DVD-ROM, DVD burner or DVD burner with LightScribe technology.
