Dell Latitude D531 AMD-Powered Laptop Introduced

Dell Latitude D531Dell has announced the Latitude D531 business low-cost notebook featuring the latest AMD M690T chipset, dual core AMD Turion 64 X2 and single core Sempron processor options, and an integrated ATI Radeon X1270 graphics. Dell Latitude D531 is configurable with an option of a 14.1-inch (1280 x 800) or 15.4-inch (1280 x 800 or optional 1440 x 900) widescreen display.

It is offered with up to 120GB hard drive, along with an encrypted HDD and announced hybrid hard drive options. The Latitude D531 supports up to 4GB of DDR2 system memory and provide Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth and 56k modem connections, as well as wireless 802.11/a/b/g and an optional 802.11n draft connectivity.

The new AMD-powered Dell notebook has CD-ROM, Combo or DVD burner drive, four USB ports, a Firewire, VGA and S-Video outputs, a COM port and a PCMICA card slot.

It provides Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2 for enhanced security, a reinforced magnesium-alloy chassis and LCD back, and weighs starting at 5.1 lbs.

Dell Latitude D531’s base configuration starts at $839. This notebook comes with Windows Vista, Windows XP, or FreeDOS preloaded.

Dell Latitude D830 Announced

Dell Latitude D830The new 15.4-inch Dell Latitude D830 business-class notebook built on new Intel Centrino ?“Santa Rosa?” platform, features improved performance and battery life, as well as an optional wireless N, solid state drive (SSD), hybrid hard drive (H-HDD), and Intel TurboMemory options, Dell Inc. announced.

The PC maker claims that the test of 14.1-inch Latitude D630, which is very similar to D830, shows increased performance over its precursor by up to 15 percent and features up to 9.4 hours of battery life with 9-cell battery.

Dell Latitude D830 is offered with Intel Core 2 Duo processor T7100 (1.8GHz), T7300 (2.0GHz), T7500 (2.2GHz) or T7700 (2.4GHz), all with 800MHz front side bus. The notebook features Intel GM965 chipset paired with integrated Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 or PM965 with NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M dedicated graphics card. Its 15.4-inch widescreen display supports up to 1920 x 1200 resolution and it’s ?“up to 38 percent brighter than the previous generation of notebooks?”. Dell Latitude D830 ships with up to 4GB of main DDR2 memory and comes with an optional Intel Turbo Memory ?“Robson?” 1GB card for increased boot-up and applications loading. It has up to 160GB hard drive and a DVD burner and offers a choice of CD-ROM, Combo Drive or DVD burner. Currently, there is no information on availability date of solid state drive and hybrid hard drive options.

Along with an 802.11/a/b/g and an optional 802.11n draft wireless connectivity, Dell Latitude D830 also has a built-in Gigabit Ethernet, an optional Bluetooth, and a 56k modem. There are options of Dell Wireless 5520 Mobile Broadband (HSDPA 3.6) Mini-Card with service from AT&T, and Dell Wireless 5720 Mobile Broadband (EVDO Rev A) Mini-Card with service from Verizon, Sprint and Telus (Canada).

Regarding security, the D830 has integrated smart card and biometric readers, Trusted Platform Module 1.2 and shock protected and fully encrypted hard drives.

There are three USB ports, VGA and S-Video outputs, COM port, Firewire port, PCMCIA card slot, and ExpressCard slot.

Dell Latitude D830 features magnesium alloy construction and weighs starting at 5.97lbs.

It’s base price is $1,249 and it comes with Windows Vista or Windows XP Professional operating system.

Gateway E-475M Business-Class Laptop Introduced

Gateway E-475MGateway today introduced E-475M, the 15.4-inch widescreen 1280×800 business notebook, based on Intel “Santa Rosa” Centrino platform.

Gateway E-475M is configurable the latest 64-bit Intel Core 2 Duo processors with 800MHz front side bus, including T7100 at 1.8GHz, T7300 at 2.0GHz, T7500 at 2.2GHz, and T7700 at 2.4GHz. The E475M is offered with up to 4GB of 667MHz DDR2 system memory, 120GB SATA hard drive, and a choice of CD-ROM, Combo Drive or DVD burner.

The E-475M is available with Intel GM965 chipset and integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 graphics or with Intel PM965 and ATI Mobility Radeon X2300 HD dedicated video card.

This laptop provides 802.11a/b/g wireless connection, Gigabit Ethernet LAN, a 56k modem, a PCMCIA card slot, four USB ports, VGA and S-Video output. The select Gateway E-475M configurations include FireWire port.

Regarding security, there is Trusted Platform Module ver. 1.2.3.11, an optional UPEK Biometric Fingerprint Reader and an integrated smart card reader. The notebook accepts an optional custom built-to-fit 3M Privacy Filter “that slips easily into inconspicuous tabs around the display, limiting the viewing angle”. Gateway also offers Absolute Software’s Computrace Complete with this notebook.

Gateway E-475M weighs approximately 7.9lbs and comes with Windows XP Home or XP Professional operating system.
